Looking for iconic places with European ambiance and breathtaking views of the city? Then, check out these recommendations for luxury travel in San Francisco.
First up, head over to the elegant Garden Court at the Palace Hotel. The Garden Court will take you far- far- away as you spot the ornate detail of this European-inspired Palace. Moreover, it is free to enter, and seating is first come first serve. If you cannot get a table right away, no worries. You can sit in the lounge area and enjoy the surroundings. As you sit and enjoy your coffee, I am sure you will feel transported to your favorite European city (for me, Paris!). Curious to try out high tea? The Garden Court serves British high tea Saturdays for the ultimate fancy feast.
Next up, enjoy the best panoramic view in the city.
High tail your way up to the Top of the Mark located in the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel. No worries, reservations are not needed. There is no cost to enter; simply come and take the elevator marked “T” to the Top of the Mark. Here you will experience a complete 360 panoramic view of the city in the comfort of a chic lounge, doused in some old-world charm. While you take in the views, order the gimlet—a refreshing cucumber cocktail! I am sure you won’t forget this experience!
Have you ever visited the world’s most Michelin-star laden country? Of course, I speak of the Basque Country—the northern most region of Spain which boosts the most Michelin star restaurants per capita. Of course, a must visit! Until then, check out Piperaide, a Basque restaurant located in the upscale Financial District of San Francisco. They have an extensive wine list in addition to superb service. In all fairness, I will honestly tell you it is hard to go wrong with food and restaurant choices—San Fran is a foodie destination with an abundance of top-notch places to eat.
After a day filled with food, fun and exploration, check into one of these luxurious hotels.
Certainly, you will want to check out The Four Seasons Embarcadero, a modern, chic feel with oh-so-perfect views of the glorious city of San Francisco. At the Four Seasons, you will be pleased with the room views as well as the location within the city. Moreover, it is central to most attractions, including this iconic restaurant, Tadich Grill.
After you check-in at The Four Seasons and get ready for dinner, close by you will find a favorite restaurant of mine, and one featured by Anthony Bourdin himself. This famous seafood restaurant is called Tadich Grill. Established in 1849, it is the 3rd oldest restaurant in the United States. A must-visit for lunch or dinner. Afterward, take a walk around the surrounding area, known as Little Italy, offering quaint Italian cafes.
Alternatively, you may want to stay close to one of the world’s oldest and most established Chinatowns. If that sounds like you, then check out this glamorous hotel. At the Ritz, located in a landmark 19th century building in Chinatown, you will find pure elegance and unmatched service. Also, it offers a spa and upscale restaurant. Finally, don’t forget to check out their exclusive wine tasting lounge as well, decked out in purple velvet and gold detail for a unique, opulent experience.
