With only 3 days to explore, and a penchant for classy and classic places to dine, we scouted out some hot spots worth a visit in the Big Apple! Whether you are exploring Wall Street, Little Italy or Upper East Side– get ready to eat your heart out in NYC.
Day 1: Lower Manhattan, Financial District, Chelsea
On our first day in New York City, we started off in the financial district– located in lower Manhattan. We stayed at the comfortable and luxurious Wall Street Hotel during our stay in New York. Make sure to check out their restaurant, La Marchande, a modernized French brasserie with dishes reimagined with a Southeast Asian flare. The vibe was upscale and fancy. The service was impeccable and the food was light with plenty of healthy options. Location: La Marchande 88 Wall St, New York, NY 10005
Whether you are in the mood for an aperitif or nightcap, checkout Bathtub Gin– a fun and cozy gin joint speakeasy with an eclectic cocktail menu. I love their small batch international gins– infused with herbs and spices, making each cocktail a tasting experience. Later on, head to Buddakan for dinner– a sleek and stylish restaurant that serves up modern Asian cuisine (as featured in the Sex & the City scene during Carrie’s reception dinner). The dark, sultry aesthetic makes for a great date-night spot. Locations: Bathtub Gin 9th Avenue, New York, NY USA & Buddakan 9th Avenue New York, NY
Day 2: Midtown and Upper East Side
On day 2, we took the metro up to explore home of Gossip Girl, though sadly we did not spot Chuck Bass. To begin our tour, we bunched at the quaint and elegant cafe, The Mark, where the swanky old money aesthetic was hitting hard and the lattes had my name on it. I always love a good avo toast and latte! Location: The Mark Hotel East 77th Street, New York, NY
For a mid day aperitif and elegant atmosphere, head to Baccarat, a luxurious crystal showroom housing some of the world’s most exquisite crystal pieces and fancy cocktails. Location: Baccarat Hotel West 53rd Street, New York, NY
Booking.comFor a fun detour, make sure to visit the Grand Central Terminal, a historic landmark that features beautiful architecture and a wide range of shopping and dining options. Here you can head to the Summit, an other-worldly art exhibit that challenges your sensorial reality. Here you can hang out at the rooftop lounge to enjoy a crafted cocktail while you take in the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Location: Summit One Vanderbilt 45 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017
Need a pick-me-up or just want to imagine that you’re transported to Paris for a moment? Then head over to Angelina Paris for Parisian vibes in NYC. This French restaurant offers a cozy and romantic atmosphere that is reminiscent of baroque French period- Je l’aime! Location: Angelina Paris 8th Avenue, New York, NY
Day 3: Little Italy & Lower East Side
On your last day in New York City, we decided to check out a couple institutional joints known for the best pizza and deli sandwiches. I must say, these are casual places — no need to dress up! They also fill up quick– so get there early!
First up we went to Little Italy to have lunch at Lombardi’s– America’s first pizzeria. I’m pretty picky with my pizza and I can say that this is definitely one of the highest quality pizzas I’ve had– stringy cheese, wood-fired, and the crust to toppings ratio was balanced. What do you think, does it look good? Location: Lombardi’s 32 Spring St, New York, NY
After some sight-seeing, and exploring we made our last stop at Katz Deli, the oldest NYC deli. Here we ordered the matzo ball, latkes, pastrami and polish hotdog– all amazing and pure ingredients! Come hungry or else you definitely wont finish your meal, portions are generous! Location: Katz Delicatessen East Houston Street, New York, NY.
